                A Book Fair (বইমেলা)

A book fair is an organised display of a large number of books on the certain national occasion. A large ope space surrounded by a temporary fencing is selected for holding such an exhibition. Books of different talles o different subjects are displayed in a good number of stalls for both sale and advertisement. The stalls of differen shapes and sizes are beautifully decorated to draw the attention of the book-lovers. It is a very charming popular place especially for the book-lovers like the teachers, the sutdents, the poets, even some authors. In fact thousands of people of different ages gather here to manage books after their sweet choice in exchange of money. Some people gathered here even in full family. Thus a book fair provides the readers with a goldes chance of having choice of their books and meeting with their favourite authors. Some people come here only for recreation. In Bangladesh, book fairs are mainly held in the cities and the district towns. Those are generally arranged on the occasions of 'Ekushey February' at Bangla Academy premises. However, book fairs play a vita role in spreading education, knowledge and national heritage, history, culture etc of a country. In fact, books are our best friends. It widens our outlook and broadens our minds and views. The utility of a book fair needs to telling. Hence, it should be made more popular for a better and happier national life.

বাংলায় অনুবাদ ঃ

বই মেলা হচ্ছে নির্দিষ্ট জাতীয় উৎসবকে কেন্দ্র করে বিপুল সংখ্যক বইয়ের সংগঠিত সাজসজ্জা। একটি বড় খোলা জায়গাকে অস্থায়ীভাবে ঘিরে এই ধরনের মেলার জন্য নির্বাচন করা হয়। বিভিন্ন রুচির, বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের বইসমূহ বহুসংখ্যক স্টদের মাধ্যমে বিক্রিব প্রচারের জন্য সাজিয়ে রাখা হয়। বিভিন্ন আকৃতির এবং মাপের স্টলগুলো বই পিপাসুদের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণের জন্য সুন্দরভাবে সাজানো হয়। এটা খুবই মনোমুগ্ধকর এবং জনপ্রিয় জায়গা বিশেষ করে বই পিপাসুদের জন্য, যেমন- শিক্ষক, ছাত্র, কবি, এমনকি কিছু লেখকদের জন্য। প্রকৃতপক্ষে বিভিন্ন বয়সি হাজার হাজার মানুষ এখানে সমবেত হয় টাকার বিনিময়ে তাদের পছন্দের বই সংগ্রহ করতে। কিছু কিছু মানুষ পুরো পরিবার নিয়ে এখানে সমবেত হয়। তাই বই মেলা পাঠকদের বই পছন্দ করা এমনকি তাদের প্রিয় লেখকদের সাথে পরিচিত হবার জন্য সোনালি সুযোগ করে দেয়। কিছু লোক এখানে শুধু বিনোদনের জন্য আসে। বাংলাদেশে বই মেলাগুলো সাধারণত শুধুমাত্র মহানগর ও জেলা শহরগুলোতে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সেগুলো সাধারণত যেমন- একুশে ফেব্রুয়ারিকে কেন্দ্র করে বাংলা একাডেমি অঙ্গনে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। যাহোক, একটি দেশে বই মেলা শিক্ষা বিস্তারের জন্য একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে যেমন- জ্ঞান-বিজ্ঞান, জাতীয় ঐতিহ্য, ইহা সংস্কৃতি ইত্যাদি। প্রকৃতপক্ষে, বই আমাদের শ্রেষ্ঠ বন্ধু। এটা আমাদের বাহিরদৃষ্টি মন এবং ধারণাকে প্রশস্ত করে। বই মেলার উপযোগিতা বলার প্রয়োজন রাখে না। জাতীয় জীবন উন্নততর ও সুখকর করার জন্য এটাকে আরো জনপ্রিয় করে তোলা উচিত।
